Resumo: | Teachers in Brazil have precarious work conditions due to lack of funding, recognition,work intensity, among other issues that lead to an emotional and physical strain, causing their sickness with greater ease. The stress is a factor that affects personal as well as professional life and can be the generator of physical and psychic illness,as it will be presented in this article, which aims to showcase the causes of stress in teachers from an Early Childhood Center and its implication on the teaching work. This article carries the results of a qualitative research, resulting from a thoroughtheoretical research on stress in education and health consequences, participantobservations, as well as interview data from four teachers that work at an Early Childhood Center located in of citythe Santa Catarina. Prose analysis was the used data analysis method (ANDRÉ, 1983), which prioritizes free interviewer speech and was anchored on the theoretical framework by the following authors: Nassif (2010), Martins (2007), Gatti (2010), Witter (2003), among others, that discuss subjects related to education, stress and illness on teachers. The research results pointed that the stress generated by the work occurs due to issues that involve the children (ECC students) and their families, and that, very often, the stress caused by involvement in those issuesbrings setbacks, conflicts and, as a consequence, the illness and physical and psychic exhaustion. The teachers also reported stressful experiences on other ECCs in which they worked. |

The teachers also reported stressful experiences on other ECCs in which they worked.Professores no Brasil têm suas condições de trabalho precárias, por falta de recursos, reconhecimento, intensidade de trabalho entre outras questões que levam a um desgaste emocional e físico causando seu adoecimento com mais facilidade. O estresse trata-se de um fator que afeta tanto a vida pessoal quanto profissional e pode ser o gerador de adoecimento físico e psíquico, como será apresentado neste artigo, que possui como objetivo central apresentar as causas do estresse em professoras de um Centro de Educação Infantil e sua implicação para o exercício do trabalho docente. O artigo agrega os resultados de uma pesquisa qualitativa, decorrente de uma minuciosa busca teórica sobre estresse na educação e consequências na saúde, observações participantes, além de dados de entrevista com quatro professoras que atuam em um Centro de Educação Infantil, localizado em uma cidade de Santa Catarina. Como método de análise de dados foi utilizada a análise em prosa (ANDRÉ, 1983), que prioriza o discurso livre dos entrevistados, ancorada no referencial teórico dos seguintes autores: Nassif (2010), Martins (2007), Gatti (2010), Witter (2003) entre outros, que discutem assuntos relacionados à educação, estresse e adoecimento de professores. Os resultados da pesquisa apontaram que o estresse gerado pelo trabalho ocorre devido a questões que envolvem as crianças (alunos do CEI) e as famílias e que, muitas vezes, o estresse provocado pelo envolvimento nestas questões acarreta contratempos, conflitos e, por consequência, adoecimento e exaustão física e psíquica.
