Dicionário enciclopédico ilustrado trilíngue da Língua de Sinais Brasileira no ensino de Português como segunda língua

This article approaches the use of the dictionary within the framework of teaching and learning of Portuguese as a second language by deaf learners. As object of study, we use the Dicionário Enciclopédico Ilustrado Trilíngue da Língua de Sinais Brasileira (DEIT-Libras), whose authors are Capovilla and Raphael (2001). Based on Faulstich (2010), Maia-Pires (2009) and Vilarinho (2013), by means of a descriptive-analytical method, we will focus on aspects capable of characterizing its potential contribution to the moment of teaching and learning the languages available in the dictionary. These languages are: Portuguese, English and Brazilian Sign Language. In this paper we will present the following sections: 1) Relation between lexicon, dictionary, learning and teaching of Brazilian Portuguese as second language; 2) Evaluation of the trilingual illustrated encyclopedic dictionary of Brazilian Sign Language (Libras); and, at the end, 3) A proposal of activity for teaching Portuguese as a second language, through the use of the dictionary analyzed here. Furthermore, we noted that the dictionary has a wide range of entries and a structure that includes, besides the definition and illustration of how to perform, in stages, the signs of Libras, texts related to the deafness, thus contributing to the knowledge that goes beyond the lexicon of the three languages presented.
