Resumo: Understanding the importance of memes in the cyberculture andconsidering the potentialities of working with this textual hybrid genre in English language classes, we analyze activities in which memes are used. They were proposed by pre-service teachers who are undergraduate students of English in a federal university in the Northeast of Brazil. Moreover, literature review underlying this study includes Dawkins (1976; 1986), Díaz (2013), Gee (2004) and Knobel and Lankshear (2007). The methodology adopted is qualitative and characterized as case study. Finally, we conclude that participants give little attention to images and struggle to fully explore memes and to work from a critical perspective.

Universidade Federal do CearáSilva, Nayara Stefanie MandarinoNunes, Thainná Melo2021-04-27info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttp://www.entrepalavras.ufc.br/revista/index.php/Revista/article/view/201610.22168/2237-6321-12016Entrepalavras; v. 11, n. 1 (11)Entrepalavras; v. 11, n. 1 (11)Entrepalavras; v. 11, n. 1 (11)Entrepalavras; v. 11, n. 1 (11)Entrepalavras; v. 11, n. 1 (11)2237-6321reponame:Entrepalavrasinstname:Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)instacron:UFCporhttp://www.entrepalavras.ufc.br/revista/index.php/Revista/article/view/2016/784http://www.entrepalavras.ufc.br/revista/index.php/Revista/article/downloadSuppFile/2016/159http://www.entrepalavras.ufc.br/revista/index.php/Revista/article/downloadSuppFile/2016/160Direitos autorais 2021 Entrepalavrasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2022-03-26T00:01:19Zoai:ojs.localhost:article/2016Revistahttp://www.entrepalavras.ufc.br/revista/index.php/Revista/indexPUBhttp://www.entrepalavras.ufc.br/revista/index.php/Revista/oaiwebmaster@entrepalavras.ufc.br||editor@entrepalavras.ufc.br2237-63212237-6321opendoar:2022-03-26T00:01:19Entrepalavras - Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)false
