Resumo: The aim of this article is to understand how housing policy affects the structuring of the  urban space through intra-urban residential mobility promoted by the Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida group 1, on two geographical scales: the city as a whole and in specific areas with homogeneous socioeconomic characteristics. The research analysis the residential path and specific historical-geographic context of the city of Presidente Prudente, state of São Paulo, based on the analysis of the residential trajectory produced by PMCMV group 1, from observing the changes occured in the locations where they moved to. We start from the principle that residential mobility does not necessarily modify the structure of the space, but it can strengthen the social division of the unequal and hierarchical urban space. Thus, we have evidenced that the PMCMV has and exercises the capacity to ratify the already existing process of socioeconomic differentiation, instead of being a mechanism that intercedes reducing such procedure in the city. Keywords: Housing policy; Structuring of urban space; Socioeconomic differentiation.El objetivo del artículo es comprender como la política pública de habitación repercute en la estructuración del espacio urbano por medio de la movilidad residencial intraurbana vinculada al Programa “Minha Casa Minha Vida”, atendiendo a familias de baja renta (nivel 1). El análisis se hace a dos escalas geográficas: la ciudad como un todo y en áreas específicas con características socioeconómicas homogéneas. La investigación tuvo lugar en el contexto histórico-geográfico de la ciudad de Presidente Prudente, São Paulo (Brasil), a partir del análisis de las trayectorias residenciales producidas por el PMCMV nivel 1, por medio de la investigación de los cambios acaecidos en los domicilios de los beneficiarios. Partimos del principio que la movilidad residencial no necesariamente cambia la estructuración del espacio, sino que puede, incluso, intensificar la división social del espacio urbano desigual y jerarquizado. Evidencia-se, de esta forma, que el PMCMV posee y ejerce capacidad de ratificar el proceso ya existente de diferenciación en el espacio urbano, en lugar de ser un mecanismo que actúe disminuyendo tal proceso en la ciudad. Palabras-llave: Política de habitación; Estructuración del espacio urbano; Diferenciación socioespacial.O objetivo deste artigo é compreender como a política habitacional repercute na estruturação do espaço urbano através da mobilidade residencial intraurbana promovida pelo Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida Faixa 1, em duas escalas geográficas: a da cidade como um todo e em áreas específicas com características socioeconômicas homogêneas. A pesquisa foi elaborada no contexto histórico-geográfico da cidade de Presidente Prudente, estado de São Paulo, a partir da análise da trajetória residencial produzida pelo PMCMV Faixa 1, através da verificação das mudanças ocorridas nos domicílios de procedência dos beneficiários. Parte-se do princípio de que a mobilidade residencial não necessariamente modifica a estruturação do espaço, senão que pode fortalecer a divisão social do espaço urbano desigual e hierarquizado. Evidenciou-se, assim, que o PMCMV possui e exerce a capacidade de ratificar o processo já existente de diferenciação socioespacial, em vez de ser um mecanismo que interceda diminuindo tal processo na cidade.
