THE USE OF IMAGES AS A PEDAGOGICAL POSSIBILITY IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CONCEPT OF REGION

Resumo: This article is the result of a course completion work in Geography defended at the Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC), held in 2019, which aimed to analyze the potential of the usage of images in the teaching of Geography as a didactic resource for the construction and appropriation of the concept of region. The study, which has a qualitative and collaborative nature, counted with the participation of 24 students from a class of the 7th year of elementary school at a school in the state of Santa Catarina. The results of the investigation showed, in general, that students develop their learning through pedagogical situations that value their creative potential, using different images as a way of representing the concept of region. In addition, the adoption of the practice of geographic mosaics consisted of a didactic path for the construction and appropriation of concepts related to the field of school Geography.

El estudio, de carácter cualitativo y colaborativo, contó con la participación de 24 alumnos de una promoción de séptimo grado de los últimos años de la escuela primaria de una escuela estatal de Florianópolis / SC. Los resultados de la investigación mostraron que los estudiantes desarrollan su aprendizaje a través de situaciones pedagógicas que valoran su potencial creativo, utilizando diferentes imágenes como forma de representar el concepto de región. Además, la adopción de la práctica del mosaico geográfico consistió en un camino didáctico para la construcción y apropiación de conceptos relacionados con el campo de la geografía escolar.O presente artigo é resultado de um trabalho de conclusão do curso de Geografia Licenciatura da Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC) realizado no ano de 2019 que teve por objetivo analisar as potencialidades do uso das imagens no ensino de Geografia enquanto recurso didático para a construção e apropriação do conceito de região. O estudo, de cunho qualitativo e de natureza colaborativa, contou com a participação de 24 estudantes de uma turma do 7º ano dos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola da rede estadual de Florianópolis/SC. Os resultados da investigação mostraram que os/as estudantes desenvolvem sua aprendizagem mediante situações pedagógicas que valorizam o seu potencial criativo, utilizando diferentes imagens como forma de representação do conceito de região.
