MOBILIZATIONS OF THE “INDIGENOUS JUNE” OF 2021 AGAINST PL 490 AND THE TEMPORAL MARK IN BRAZIL: citizenship, autonomy and resistance

The year 2021 was a historic one for the struggle of indigenous peoples in Brazil, both in the fight against Covid-19 in their territories and in the fight to reaffirm their constitutionally guaranteed rights, which are under threat in the face of Bill of Law 490/2007, which is being processed in the National Congress on the temporal milestone thesis, still in the process of being voted on by the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The aim of this text was therefore to analyze the mobilization carried out by the Indigenous Movement in Brazil in June 2021, known as “Indigenous June”, against PL 490/2007 and the temporal milestone thesis and its impacts on the existence of indigenous peoples. Qualitative research was carried out to identify the actions taken during the period through social media posts by indigenous organizations and leaders, supplemented with information from websites, newspapers and blogs of the indigenous and indigenist movement. The results were systematized and categorized using the content analysis proposed by Bardin. The data reveals that the Indigenous Movement's capacity for national articulation has capillarized actions in all five regions of Brazil and performed varied manifestations in different spatial arrangements, mainly traffic blockades on highways and protests in urban environments.
