Resumo: In this paper, we submit an analysis of the distribution of COVID-19 cases in the city of Chapecó, in Santa Catarina (SC), Brazil, putting it in the context of the main socio-spatial inequalities. It is observed that there is a disparate spatial distribution of the disease reported cases, with more occurrences in the peripheral residential áreas, inhabited by people with low income levels and high demographic densities. Another important aspect is the high incidence of cases in the western periphery of the city, in neighborhoods where there is a great concentration of meat processing agro-industries workers.

Existe una distribución espacial dispar de los casos notificados de la enfermedad, con mayor ocurrencia en las áreas residenciales periféricas, ocupadas por poblaciones de bajos niveles de ingresos y con altas densidades demográficas. También es destacable la alta incidencia de casos en la periferia occidental de la ciudad, en barrios con gran concentración de trabajadores en agroindustrias cárnicas.Neste artigo, apresentamos uma análise da distribuição dos casos de COVID-19 na cidade de Chapecó, em Santa Catarina, contextualizando-a no âmbito das principais desigualdades socioespaciais existentes. Constata-se uma distribuição espacial díspar dos casos notificados da doença, com maior ocorrência nas áreas residenciais periféricas, ocupadas por populações com baixos níveis de renda e com altas densidades demográficas.
