Resumo: La genética es una de las áreas más fantásticas de la biología y se ocupa del estudio de la herencia, así como del funcionamiento y la estructura de los genes. Sin embargo, está dotado de un soporte teórico complejo y abstracto, que puede desalentar el aprendizaje de los estudiantes. En este sentido, el presente artículo tiene como objetivo principal, la propuesta de utilizar una película del cine, denominada “El Octavo Día” como eje facilitador de la enseñanza y aprendizaje de temas de Genética como mutaciones y síndrome de Down a estudiantes de los cursos de nivel Superior de Ciencias Biológicas y otros del área de la Salud. Creemos que la película utilizada, junto con las discusiones y problematizaciones del docente, pueden suscitar el interés de los estudiantes, haciendo más amena la disciplina de Genética, permitiendo un aprendizaje más efectivo de los temas mencionados.

However, it is endowed with a complex and abstract theoretical support, which can discourage students from learning. In this sense, the present article has as main objective, the proposal of using a movie from the cinema, called "The Eighth Day" as a facilitator axis of the teaching and learning of Genetics topics such as mutations and Down syndrome to students of the Higher level of Biological Sciences courses and others in the Health area. We believe that the film used, together with the discussions and problematizations of the teacher, can instigate the interest of the students, making the discipline of Genetics more pleasant, allowing a more effective learning of the aforementioned topics.A Genética, é uma das áreas mais fantásticas da Biologia, e se preocupa em estudar a hereditariedade, bem como o funcionamento e estrutura dos genes. No entanto, ela é dotada de um aporte teórico complexo e abstrato, o que pode desmotivar a aprendizagem dos alunos. Neste sentido, o presente artigo, possui como principal objetivo, a proposta da utilização de um filme do cinema, denominado “O Oitavo Dia” como eixo facilitador do ensino e da aprendizagem de temas de Genética como mutações e a síndrome de Down aos alunos do nível Superior dos cursos de Ciências Biológicas e outros da área da Saúde.
