TEACHING AND LEARNING: AN EXPERIENCE WITH GROUPS OF PARENTS OF HOSPITALIZED CHILDREN

Resumo: | ABSTRACT: This paper intends to retell an experience in the practical teaching of “Enfermagem Materno-Infanto-Juvenil”, involving nursing care for guardians of hospitalized children through team work coordinated by nursing students. The aim was to describe the experience in using group technology as a strategy in order to assist hospitalized children’s guardians and also to show nursing students the importance of helping this group of clients. The team work with these guardians has been very efficient to show their real needs. In addiction to that it allows the socialization of the subject experiences related to the child’s hospitalization and the search for healthier behaviors to face the situation. This technology was also effective to provide students the opportunity to deal with theoretical aspects of the nurse-patient-family relation, raising their interest in helping those in charge of making the children company. In conclusion, the usage of team techniques for the assistance of hospitalized children provides the development of sensitivity and personal growth of students and parents, besides improving the quality of the offered nursing care. Key words: pediatric nursing; parents; education.RESUMEN: Es un relato de una experiencia en el enseño practico de la disciplina de “Enfermería Materno-Infante-Juvenil”, involucrando la asistencia de enfermería a los acompañantes de los niños hospitalizados a través de las actividades en grupo coordenadas por académicos de enfermería. El objetivo fue describir la experiencia de la utilización de la tecnología de un grupo como estrategia para la atención de enfermería a los acompañantes de los niños internados e para la sensibilización de los académicos de enfermería con relación a necesidad de la asistencia de este grupo de clientes. El trabajo en grupo con estos acompañantes tiene revelado muy eficiente para revelar las necesidades reales de su asistencia, además de permitir la socialización de las vivencias subjetivas con relación con la hospitalización del niño en búsqueda de los comportamientos más saludables para el enfrentamiento de la situación. Esta tecnología también es muy útil para proporcionar a los alumnos la oportunidad de vivenciar los aspectos teóricos de la relación “enfermero-paciente-familiares”, despertando en ellos el interese por la asistencia a los acompañantes de los pacientes internados. Si concluyo que la utilización de la técnica en grupo para la asistencia a los acompañantes de los niños hospitalizados posibilita el desarrollo de la sensibilidad y el crecimiento personal de los alumnos y de los padres, además de mejorar la calidad de la asistencia de la enfermería ofrecida. terminos clave: Enfermería Pediátrica; Padres; EnseñanzaRESUMO: Trata-se do relato de uma experiência no ensino prático da disciplina de Enfermagem Materno-Infanto-Juvenil, envolvendo a assistência de enfermagem aos acompanhantes de crianças hospitalizadas através de atividades em grupo coordenadas pelos acadêmicos de enfermagem. O objetivo foi descrever a experiência de utilização da tecnologia de grupo como estratégia para o atendimento de enfermagem aos acompanhantes de crianças internadas e para a sensibilização dos acadêmicos de enfermagem quanto à necessidade de assistência desse grupo de clientes. O trabalho em grupo com esses acompanhantes tem-se mostrado bastante eficiente para revelar as suas reais necessidades de assistência, além de permitir a socialização das vivências subjetivas relacionadas com a hospitalização da criança e a busca de comportamentos mais saudáveis para o enfrentamento da situação. Essa tecnologia mostrou-se útil também para proporcionar aos alunos a oportunidade de vivenciar os aspectos teóricos da relação enfermeiro-paciente-familiares, despertando neles o interesse pela assistência aos acompanhantes de pacientes internados. Concluiu-se que a utilização de técnicas grupais para a assistência aos acompanhantes de crianças hospitalizadas possibilita o desenvolvimento da sensibilidade e crescimento pessoal dos alunos e dos pais, além de melhorar a qualidade da assistência de enfermagem oferecida.
