INCONVENIENTS, INTRUSIVES AND INADEQUATE: DISPUTES FOR MIXED STUDENT HOUSING AT THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE DO SUL (1980-1983)

Resumo: The present study aims to analyze the disputes involving the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and the female presence in the University Student House (CEU). These conflicts resulted from the irregular entry of young people who disputed student assistance in this space that, from 1971 to 1983, was offered only to men. The research was carried out by a combination of sources, but the preponderance is the documents obtained from the CEU Archive. It was possible to perceive that the University created numerous barriers to female access and demonstrated an authoritarian posture, as well as the prejudice of many servants in positions of power regarding their conceptions about women. Esos conflictos derivaron del ingreso irregular de jóvenes que disputaban la asistencia estudiantil en ese espacio que, de 1971 a 1983, se ofrecía solamente a los hombres. La investigación se hizo a partir de un combinado de fuentes, pero la preponderancia son los documentos obtenidos ante el Archivo de CEU. Fue posible ver que la Universidad creó innumerables barreras para el acceso femenino y demostró una postura autoritaria, así como el prejuicio de muchos servidores en cargos de poder en lo que se refiere a sus concepciones sobre las mujeres. Esses conflitos foram decorrentes do ingresso irregular de jovens que disputavam a assistência estudantil nesse espaço que, de 1971 a 1983, era oferecido somente aos homens. A pesquisa foi realizada a partir de um combinado de fontes, mas a preponderância são os documentos obtidos junto ao Arquivo da CEU.
