Resumo: | Introduction: Eating disorders are considered psychiatric diseases, characterized by serious deviations in eating behavior and whose main risk factor is dissatisfaction with body image. Studies with university students in the health area found that these groups showed evidence of risk behaviors for eating disorders due to greater demands regarding their physical shape. Objective: To evaluate the association between the perception of body self-image and the risk of developing eating disorders among nutrition and nursing students in Cuiabá-MT. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study, composed of 140 nutrition students and 81 female nursing students, aged 18 years and over, attending a public university in Cuiabá-MT. For data collection, the following self-administered instruments were used: Eating Attitude Test (EAT-26), Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ), Silhouette Matching Taske and a B Investigamic with sociodemographic and lifestyle data. For data analysis, SPSS software was used and Pearson's chi-square test was applied with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: The prevalence of risk for anorexia, according to the EAT-26, was 20% in nutrition and 21% in nursing. Regarding the BITE scale, 12.9% of nutrition students and 12.3% of nursing students had bulimic symptoms. Assessing body dissatisfaction, according to the BSQ, 48.6% and 72.8% had some degree of dissatisfaction in nutrition and nursing, respectively. According to the SMT, more than half of the academics of both courses showed overweight. Observe the significant association of body dissatisfaction with the risk of developing dietary changes through the instruments used in the assessment (p<0.05). Conclusion: The data show an association between body dissatisfaction and the risk for eating disorders among nutrition and nursing students. |

Conclusion: The data show an association between body dissatisfaction and the risk for eating disorders among nutrition and nursing students.
