Resumo: This text has as its theme the research in Special Education carried out by students and their advisors in the Graduate Program in Education of the Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba since its creation in 1972. The discussions include a history of the construction of Special Education as an area of ​​investigation at PPGE - UNIMEP and a survey of theses and dissertations defended between 2004 and 2021 and made available in the UNIMEP Digital Library. It is considered the importance of investigating what was produced as a way of contributing to the (re)knowledge of the history of Special Education as a research field in the Program and as an instrument and engine for the (re)construction of a plural and likely future in the regarding scientific production in the area.

Las discusiones incluyen una historia de la construcción de la Educación Especial como área de investigación en PPGE - UNIMEP y un relevamiento de tesis y disertaciones defendidas entre 2004 y 2021 y puestas a disposición en la Biblioteca Digital de UNIMEP. Se considera la importancia de indagar en lo producido como una forma de contribuir al (re)conocimiento de la historia de la Educación Especial como campo de investigación del Programa y como instrumento y motor para la (re)construcción de una sociedad plural y futuro posible en lo que respecta a la producción científica en el área.Este texto tem como tema a pesquisa em Educação Especial realizada por alunos e seus orientadores no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Metodista de Piracicaba desde sua criação, em 1972. Integram as discussões um histórico da construção da Educação Especial como área de investigação no PPGE - UNIMEP e um levantamento de teses e dissertações defendidas entre 2004 e 2021 e disponibilizadas na Biblioteca Digital da UNIMEP.
