What citizenship are we talking about? A literature review of research in science education with a perspective of training for citizenship

Resumo: | Considering the recurrent attacks on the democratic rule of law and scientific knowledge, the present work is characterized as a literature review that intends to investigate how Science Teaching has treated the training for citizenship. Starting from theoretical discussions that differentiate citizenship and citizen models according to contemporary political theories, 64 articles published in national journals of Qualis A1, A2 and B1 were analyzed. The results show a discursive plurality – despite the scarcity of approaches that consider the polysemy of the concept of citizenship – and point to the favoring of liberal and participatory democratic models to the detriment of multiculturalist proposals. Investigations in the scope of Basic Education predominate, which portray the strong presence of political liberalism, and a possible difficulty in the area in conceiving scientific disciplines as elements for overcoming inequalities and the search for social justice is highlighted. |

A partir de discusiones teóricas que diferencian ciudadanía y modelos ciudadanos según teorías políticas contemporáneas, fueron analisados 64 artículos publicados en revistas nacionales de Qualis A1, A2 y B1. Los resultados muestran una pluralidad discursiva – a pesar de la escasez de enfoques que consideren la polisemia del concepto de ciudadanía – y apuntan a favorecer modelos democráticos liberales y participativos en detrimento de propuestas multiculturalistas. Predominan las investigaciones en el ámbito de la Educación Básica, en su mayoría alineadas con el liberalismo político, y se destaca una posible dificultad en el área para concebir las disciplinas científicas como elementos para la superación de las desigualdades y la búsqueda de la justicia social.Considerando os recorrentes ataques ao estado democrático de direito e ao conhecimento científico, o presente trabalho se caracteriza como uma revisão da literatura que pretende investigar como o Ensino de Ciências tem tratado a formação para a cidadania. Partindo de discussões teóricas que diferenciam modelos de cidadania e de cidadão conforme teorias políticas contemporâneas, foram analisados 64 artigos publicados em periódicos nacionais de Qualis A1, A2 e B1. Os resultados evidenciam uma pluralidade discursiva – apesar da escassez de abordagens que considerem a polissemia do conceito de cidadania - e apontam para o favorecimento de modelos democráticos liberais e de lógica socializante em detrimento de propostas participativas.
