From emotion to tears: notes on Georges Didi-Huberman and the political and epistemological turn of his gaze

Resumo: This article will address the political and epistemological turn in the work of Georges Didi-Huberman. Probing how this author from the original publication of Images in spite of all reconfigured his epistemological itinerary through of the images of peoples and of their political and historical dimension. Starting with works from the 1980s and 1990s, it’ll be shown how key concepts such as “montage”, “survival” and “symptom” were taken from the history of art and reworked into the political history of peoples through the series The eye of history. The essay will also reflect on the way in which Didi-Huberman, in recent years, has sought to think about the link between people's forms of life and their emotions erupted through images.

El ensayo también reflejará la forma en que Didi-Huberman, en los últimos años, ha buscado pensar el vínculo entre los modos de vida de los pueblos y sus emociones estalladas a través de imágenes.O artigo abordará a viragem política e epistemológica na obra de Georges Didi-Huberman. Partindo de obras das décadas de 1980 e 1990, será mostrado como conceitos chaves tais como “montagem”, “sobrevivência” e “sintoma” foram arrancados da história da arte e reelaborados para a história política dos povos através da série O olho da história.
