Reflections on art education and the teacher's performance in school: dance teaching

Resumo: This article discusses the teaching of Art and the the Art teacher performance in school. It brings forth the issues that involves the teaching of dance as well as the actions taken by the dance teachers. The articlealso problematizes the challenges posed for the insertion of this kind of teaching, with emphasis on the documents that guide it. We highlight on the arguments that justify the presence of Art in basic education and the contributions of dancing to the school curricula, as well as to the opportunity it brings to the person to listen to oneself, to understand others and their surroundings, to recognize different gestural codes, and to build up new vocabularies. Finally, the article suggests that the dance teacher should articulate the modes of making, appreciating and contextualizing dance itself, by sharing experiences and instigating knowledge in a reciprocal relationship of teaching and learning.

Pontua também o ensino de Dança e a ação docente daquele que a leciona. São problematizados os desafios postos para a inserção desse ensino, com ênfase nos documentos que a orientam. Destaca argumentos que justificam a presença da Arte na Educação Básica e ressalta as contribuições da Dança para o educando como aguçar a escuta de si, dos outros e do seu entorno, reconhecer códigos gestuais diversos e construir novos vocabulários.
