Resumo: This theoretical essay aims to reflect on the historical possibilities of capoeira with the ludic. Therefore, theoretical essay is being understood as a reflective and interpretive text based on the existing literature on a given topic. We will explore cultural history as a theoretical basis and our reflections will dialogue with the epistemologies of the South, which emerge as a decolonizing and counter-hegemonic movement. The essay is organized in a theoretical and methodological introduction, followed by the topics: “Origin and meanings of capoeira”; “Historical Notes” and “The Capoeira Game and Playing”. We defend that the ludic and playful potential present in the game of capoeira is constituted not only as a possible characteristic, but fundamental to the very experience of the game in its fullness.

Por lo tanto, el ensayo teórico se está entendiendo como un texto reflexivo e interpretativo basado en la literatura existente sobre un tema determinado. Exploraremos la historia cultural como base teórica y nuestras reflexiones dialogarán con las epistemologías del Sur, que emergen como un movimiento descolonizador y contrahegemónico. El ensayo está organizado en una introducción teórica y metodológica, seguida de los temas: “Origen y significados de la capoeira”; “Apuntes históricos” y “El juego y el juego de la capoeira”. Defendemos que el potencial lúdico y lúdico presente en el juego de la capoeira se constituye no sólo como una característica posible, sino fundamental para la experiencia misma del juego en su plenitud.Este ensaio teórico tem como objetivo refletir sobre as possibilidades históricas da capoeira com o lúdico. Para tanto, ensaio teórico está sendo entendido como um texto reflexivo e interpretativo baseado na literatura existente sobre um determinado tema. Exploraremos como fundamento teórico a história cultural e nossas reflexões dialogarão com as epistemologias do Sul, as quais surgem como um movimento descolonizador e contra-hegemônico. O ensaio está organizado em uma introdução teórico-metodológica, seguida dos tópicos: “Origem e significados da capoeira”; “Apontamentos Históricos” e “O jogo de capoeira e o brincar”.
