Resumo: | This article presents a look at the backpackers and backpacking trips as a practice of leisure in contemporary society that provides the emergence of the subject in its singularity. Understood as subjects traveling independently, cheaper and intend the encounter with the other (either the other of himself), unveiled by the survey, that besides an alternative way to travel guided by the hegemonic model tours, "backpacking" is a lifestyle. In commuting discontinuous time/space provided by travel and persecuted by backpackers by otherness experience that causes a double estrangement in being different from yourself and the other, the meaning of this practice is evident. The sense of "backpacking" points out that the relational aspects, the different learning and self-knowledge generated by this form of travel represent the constitutive aspects to be a backpacker. |

Comprendidos como sujetos que viajan de forma independiente, más barata y que tienen la intención de encuentro con otro (pudiendo ser un otro de sí mismo), la investigación realizada demuestra que más allá de una forma alternativa a los viajes pautados por el modelo hegemónico de viajes turísticos, “mochilear” representa un estilo de vida. En los desplazamientos en el tiempo/espacio discontinuo proporcionados por los viajes y buscados por los mochileros mediante la experiencia de alteridad producto de un doble extrañamiento de ser y estar diferente de sí mismo y de otro, el sentido de esta práctica se hace evidente. Así, el sentido de “mochilear” muestra en sus aspectos relacionales, en los aprendizajes diversos y en el autoconocimiento generados por esa forma de viajar, la representación de los aspectos constitutivos de la condición de mochilero.Este artigo apresenta um olhar sobre os mochileiros e as viagens de mochila como uma prática de lazer nas sociedades contemporâneas que propicia a emergência do sujeito em sua singularidade. Compreendidos como sujeitos que viajam de forma independente, mais barata e que intencionam o encontro com o outro (podendo ser o outro de si mesmo), desvelou-se pela pesquisa realizada, que para além de uma forma alternativa às viagens pautadas pelo modelo hegemônico de viagens turísticas, “mochilar” representa um estilo de vida. No deslocamento tempo/espaço descontínuos proporcionado pelas viagens e perseguido pelos mochileiros mediante a experiência de alteridade que provoca um duplo estranhamento no ser e estar diferente de si mesmo e do outro, o sentido desta prática fica evidenciado.
