O lazer e a cidade: o olhar dos professores universitários no Pará e Amapá

This article aims to discuss the appropriation of leisure spaces in the city by university professors who work in the field of leisure studies in cities in northern Brazil, as well as to identify the limits found for this appropriation. We combined the use of bibliographic research with a semi-structured interview with 11 teachers, who teach leisure subjects in the states of Pará and Amapá. The limits indicated were scarcity of spaces and public policies; tendency towards privatization of spaces; concentration of spaces in the central areas of cities; few cultural programs; difficulty of transportation and locomotion in the cities; unequal use between genders; lack of accessibility for the elderly and disabled. We highlight the need for investments in relation to leisure policies, which implies better distribution of spaces, diversification of cultural practices, accessibility and gender equity.
