Resumo: | This article deals with changes in sex work implemented by technology and public regulatory policy in Brazil. The study has as its object of analysis the activity of sex workers using applications and aims to describe how this tool combined with regulation (with abolitionist tendency) modify the way of hiring sex workers and create new modalities of sex work, besides analyzing what advantages they brought to these professionals. The data discussed in this study were produced through ethnography in two nightclubs in Curitiba, and semi-structured interviews with sex workers, application users. The results show that the regulation favors sex workers from the poorest sections of the population, by relieving them of the harassment of public agents, but it promotes “uberization” by authorizing prostitution in the autonomous form, never with a formal license. |
