Elements that found the reference service from the laws of library

Resumo: The Reference Service is one of the factors that most contributes to the development of libraries, especially for stimulating access to information. Even with this contribution, the origin of this service is quite remote, as it predates the formulation of the principles that underlie Modern Librarianship. Therefore, the correlations between the Reference Service and the Laws of Librarianship are questioned, in order to identify what the laws mention about this service. Through the application of bibliographic research and content analysis, the results revealed similarities between the two themes, whose fundamental aspects of the service are: interaction; the training; the promotion of use; the service, trained staff and infrastructure; and integration. From the inferences, it is concluded that the Reference Service and the laws are inseparable and complement each other through a theoretical-practical relationship, that is, the service manifests itself as a mirror of the laws, by providing opportunities for the execution of what they mention.

Mesmo com essa contribuição, a origem desse serviço é bastante remota, pois antecede a formulação dos princípios que fundamentam a Biblioteconomia Moderna. Portanto, questionam-se as correlações entre o Serviço de Referência e as Leis da Biblioteconomia, com o objetivo de identificar o que as leis mencionam sobre esse serviço. Mediante aplicação de pesquisa bibliográfica e análise de conteúdo, os resultados revelaram aproximações entre os dois temas, cujos aspectos fundamentais do serviço são: a interação; o treinamento; a promoção do uso; o atendimento, equipe treinada e infraestrutura; e a integração.
