Contribution from Information Science to improve the quality of scientific production

This article intends to reflect on the role of Information Science in improving the quality of scientific production in the context of researchers’ development in Brazil. To aim this point, a documental research was carried out, using the applicable current legislation and a bibliographic research related to the theme. As a result, we highlight that although scientific production has grown considerably in Brazil in recent years, there is still much to be improved. Difficulties such as the application of technical norms, scientific rigor, and the elaboration of references identified in the literature. Other relevant points are the need to approach scientific research with its application for problem-solving situations of real problems and the approximation of post-graduation to previous levels of education. It concluded that Information Science could offer contents and tools, from information sources to references, which can help in the formation of researchers and, consequently, improve the quality of scientific production.
