Neoliberalismo e austeridade:: investigando padrões de “Reações de Mercado” com relação ao trâmite da EC 95/2016

From a critical perspective about the influence of neoliberalism in the determination of austerity policies in Brazil, the paper aims to answer the research problem: in an environment built around neoliberal policies in which austerity is posed as an alternative to the economic crises affecting the Welfare State, what indications and conclusions can be obtained from the analysis of market reactions related to the passage of the PEC of the spending ceiling in Brazil? The objective is to identify what indications and conclusions can be obtained from the analysis of the market reactions related to the passage of the PEC of the spending ceiling in Brazil. The work is developed by the deductive approach method. In the end, the research hypothesis was corroborated, to the extent that in parallel to the crises of the welfare state, aggravated by neoliberal interference, there is room to boost austerity as a way to restrict the provision of social rights and benefit private interests. Specifically in Brazil, it was possible to verify how market interests interfered in the legislative process for the approval of Constitutional Amendment n. 95/2016, reflecting the global trend of boosting austerity, as the only way out back to economic growth.
