The National Exam of Students’ Performance: teachers’ appreciation on the evaluation method

Resumo: The National Exam of Students' Performance (ENADE) is part of the National System for the Evaluation of Higher Education (SINAES), assessing the students' performance following the National Curricular Guidelines. The objective of this study was to analyze the opinion of professors of Pharmacy courses from public and private institutions of the state of Rio Grande do Sul in relation to ENADE. Through the Qualtrics system, 168 professors participated in the questionnaires, with a return submitted to the Discursive Textual Analysis. The answers revealed that 28,6% of them (48/168) presented favorable opinion to the evaluation method; 45.2% (76/168), moderate opinion; 14.3% (24/168), indifferent opinion; and 11,9% (20/168), unfavorable opinion. Furthermore, 22% (37/168) of the professors mentioned the assessment approach that focuses on the student. The opinion of those involved and the constant monitoring are crucial to recognize the exam’s limitations as well as the importance of ENADE as an instrument for measuring student performance, so that it becomes effectively useful in the qualification of higher education, complementing the SINAES proposal.

El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar la opinión de profesores de los cursos de Farmacia de instituciones públicas y privadas del estado del Rio Grande do Sul con relación al ENADE. A través del sistema Qualtrics, 168 docentes participaron de los cuestionarios, con retorno sometido al Análisis Textual Discursivo. Las respuestas revelaron el 28,6% de los profesores (48/168) con opinión favorable al método de evaluación; el 45,2% (76/168) con opinión moderada; el 14,3% (24/168) con opinión indiferente y el 11,9% (20/168) con opinión desfavorable. 22% (37/168) de los profesores mencionaron le abordaje de evaluación en que el aluno es el foco.  La opinión de los involucrados y el constante monitoreo son cruciales para reconocer las limitaciones y la importancia del ENADE como instrumento de evaluación del desempeño estudiantil, para que este resulte efectivamente útil en la calificación de la educación superior, complementando la propuesta del SINAES.O Exame Nacional de Desempenho de Estudantes (ENADE) integra o Sistema Nacional de Avaliação da Educação Superior (SINAES) aferindo o rendimento dos alunos quanto às Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a opinião de professores dos Cursos de Farmácia de Instituições públicas e privadas do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, em relação ao ENADE. Através do sistema Qualtrics, 168 docentes participaram dos questionários, com retorno submetido à Análise Textual Discursiva. As respostas revelaram que 28% dos professores (47/168) apresentam opinião favorável ao método avaliativo; 45,2% (76/168) opinião moderada; 14,3% (24/168) indiferente e 12,5% (21/168) desfavorável, cuja abordagem, principal, ao aluno, mencionada por 22% (37/168) dos professores.
