Hospital accreditation and the aspects that hinder its implementation according to health care professionals working at a private hospital

Resumo: This is a qualitative study aiming to analyze the difficulties in the process of hospital accreditation in the perspective of healthcare professionals working at a private hospital in Belo Horizonte. This research used semi-structured interviews with 31 health care professionals and the data was analyzed using content analysis. Results revealed that the aspects hindering the implementation of hospital accreditation were the lack of quality system maintenance throughout the year as well as the poor participation of some health care professionals in the process. According to the professionals interviewed such difficulties can disrupt the whole practice and consequently affect the quality of service provided. The commitment of the medical staff is crucial to the improvement of established standards for the provision of a more humane healthcare

La investigación se llevó a cabo con entrevistas semiestructuradas. El análisis de datos se basó en el Análisis del Contenido. Los principales obstáculos observados durante el año fueron la falta del mantenimiento del sistema de calidad y el poco compromiso de algunos profesionales. Desde la perspectiva de los profesionales de salud entrevistados las dificultades encontradas pueden acarrear discontinuidad del trabajo. Es imperativo, sin embargo, que los profesionales de salud mantengan el compromiso de romper barreras buscando atención de excelencia y más humanizadaTrata-se de um estudo de caso de natureza qualitativa cujo objetivo foi analisar os aspectos dificultadores do processo de Acreditação Hospitalar vivenciados por profissionais de saúde de um hospital privado em Belo Horizonte. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida com 31 profissionais de saúde por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas. Para a interpretação de dados, foi aplicada a análise de conteúdo. Os resultados apontaram como principais aspectos dificultadores a falta de manutenção do Sistema de Qualidade ao longo do ano e o pouco envolvimento de alguns profissionais de saúde no referido processo. Na perspectiva dos profissionais entrevistados, as dificuldades encontradas podem acarretar ruptura na prestação de serviço e, por conseguinte, afetar a qualidade dos serviços prestados.
