Resumo: This was a descriptive, exploratory and cross-sectional study. The objective was to identify the self-perception of stress manifestations for workers of the nursing team of Intensive Care Units of two hospitals located in Montes Claros, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The group evaluated had 47 workers. Data was collected with a questionnaire with a social and demographic approach, and the Likert five point scale to describe the level of perception of occupational stress in the work environment. The results showed that 31.9% of the workers were classified as stressed. The only variable associated with a higher perception of stress was work overload (0R=6.17; CI95%=1.27-32.10). It is hoped that these results offer subsidies to treat the phenomenon through new approaches, eliminating or reducing the harmful effect of stress in Intensive Care Units.
