Influences of Musicology and Ethnomusicology in Music Education Research in Brazil

Resumo: The text presents a theoretical synthesis of the musicological and ethnomusicological tendencies with the objective of exploring these categories in the context of the research in musical education, which approaches music in the school. Thirty theses were chosen for the application of these categories with codified cuts, mostly in the abstracts of the works. The methodologies of Categorical Content Analysis and Qualitative Research Synthesis were used to give security to the qualitative analysis process of theses. This exploratory and descriptive work revealed fundamental aspects about the influence of musicology and ethnomusicology in the research in musical education in Brazil. The chosen categories of the theoretical contexts of musicology and ethnomusicology and the processes of analysis presented may enable new forms of understanding of the area of musical education as a field of pedagogical knowledge and also (ethno)musicological.

Treinta tesis fueron elegidas para la aplicación de estas categorías con recortes codificados, en su mayoría en los resúmenes de los trabajos. Se utilizaron las metodologías de Análisis de Contenido Categórico y Síntesis de Investigación Cualitativa para asegurar el proceso de análisis cualitativo de las tesis. Este trabajo exploratorio y descriptivo reveló aspectos fundamentales sobre la influencia de la musicología y la etnomusicología en la investigación en educación musical en Brasil. Las categorías escogidas de los contextos teóricos de la musicología y la etnomusicología y los procesos de análisis presentados pueden posibilitar nuevas formas de entender el área de la educación musical como campo de conocimiento pedagógico y también (etno)musicológico.O texto apresenta uma síntese teórica das tendências musicológicas e etnomusicológicas com o objetivo de explorar essas categorias no contexto da pesquisa em educação musical, que aborda música na escola. Foram elegidas 30 teses para a aplicação destas categorias com recortes codificados, em sua maioria, nos resumos dos trabalhos. As metodologias de Análise de Conteúdo Categorial e Síntese Qualitativa de Pesquisa foram usadas para dar segurança ao processo de análise qualitativa das teses. Este trabalho exploratório e descritivo revelou aspectos fundamentais sobre a influência da musicologia e etnomusicologia na pesquisa em educação musical no Brasil.
