Resumo: The aim of this study was to understand the perceptions about Physical Education presented by high school students from the federal education network. A descriptive research was carried out with the participation of 10 students from a campus of the Federal Institute of São Paulo. The students produced a descriptive memorial narrating their memories of the classes of the curricular component. The interpretation of these data was performed by content analysis. These young people experienced the gestures of diverse manifestations of body culture, debated the relationship between health and sport, analyzed the social markers of class, race and gender that cross body practices, performed teaching activities integrating the knowledge of Physical Education with the their professional training course and recognized the importance of discipline for the formation of their citizenship.

Se realizó una investigación descriptiva con la participación de 10 estudiantes de un campus del Instituto Federal de São Paulo. Los estudiantes produjeron un memorial descriptivo que narraba sus recuerdos de las clases del componente curricular. La interpretación de estos datos se realizó mediante análisis de contenido. Estos jóvenes experimentaron los gestos de diversas manifestaciones de la cultura corporal, debatieron la relación entre la salud y el deporte, analizaron los marcadores sociales de clase, raza y género que cruzan las prácticas corporales, llevaron a cabo actividades de enseñanza integrando el conocimiento de la Educación Física con el su curso de formación profesional y reconoció la importancia de la disciplina para la formación de su ciudadanía.O objetivo desse estudo foi compreender as percepções sobre a Educação Física apresentadas por estudantes do Ensino Médio da rede federal de ensino. Foi realizada uma pesquisa descritiva que contou com a participação de 10 discentes de um campus do Instituto Federal de São Paulo. Os alunos produziram um memorial descritivo narrando as suas lembranças sobre as aulas do componente curricular. A interpretação desses dados foi realizada pela análise de conteúdo.
