Resumo: | The obstacle to the expansion of women's football in Brazil was mainly prejudice, using biological, cultural and psychological justifications. In Physical Education classes, football was dominant for boys, while girls had children's activities, and volleyball was preferred, perpetuating gender inequality in sport. This study aimed to understand the relationships between the practice of women's football and school Physical Education, analyzing the impacts of classes on the initiation of women's football. The methodology used was oral history to collect life experiences in order to fill gaps in documentation, avoiding bias from those who normally record the events. It was concluded that the school was not the main place for initiation into women's football. Although Physical Education classes do not offer many opportunities, we realized that there was an influence on the decision to become football athletes, especially in the Final Years of Elementary School. |
