Introduction: The pandemic caused by COVID-19 had a great impact and created challenges in society in general. One of the health professionals who played a relevant and leading role during the period was nursing. Objectives: To describe the experience of nursing students in carrying out COVID-19 vaccination in campaigns carried out in a city in the Center-West of Brazil. Methods: This is an experience report, developed by nursing students from a Federal Public University in the Center-West of Brazil, from March to August 2021. Results: The campaigns took place in the Parish Hall, located in the central area easily accessible, activities took place on established dates. The academics provided guidance, vaccinations and filled out the immunization card. Discussion: The pandemic highlighted the need for students and teachers to expand their work together with the population in a way that allows them to share their technical scientific knowledge. Conclusion: Therefore, we conclude that the experience of carrying out vaccination during the COVID-19 pandemic had a great impact on our academic training, we can visualize in practice the main role that nursing plays in management, care and health education during the pandemic.
