Resumo: Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is considered the most common malignant neoplasm of the minor salivary glands. . The lesion is composed of a mixture of mucous, epidermoid and intermediate cells, and therefore, according to the quantity of each cell type, the World Health Organization classifies the neoplasm as low, intermediate or high degree of malignancy. This classification is directly related to the prognosis of the neoplasm. The disease commonly manifests as asymptomatic swelling, but may be associated with superficial ulceration, pain and paresthesia. The aim of this study is to report the case of a 40-year-old female patient who presented with a well-defined nodular lesion, of fibrous consistency, located on the hard palate, close to the boundary with the soft palate, similar in color to the mucosa, asymptomatic, with a diameter of only 6 mm. After histopathological analysis of the excisional biopsy, the diagnosis was intermediate grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma. The patient was referred to a head and neck surgeon who is carrying out periodic follow-up. The clinical hypotheses of the case presented were mucocele and pleomorphic adenoma. Due to the reduced size of the lesion, an excisional biopsy was chosen, which has so far proven to be efficient as the only treatment, since there was complete healing of the affected area, without need for another surgical procedure. As with any malignant neoplasm, early diagnosis is essential for a better prognosis.

As with any malignant neoplasm, early diagnosis is essential for a better prognosis.O carcinoma mucoepidermoide é considerado a neoplasia maligna mais frequente das glândulas salivares menores.
