Resumo: This course conclusion work presents research on what an image book is, creating relationships since the origin of the illustrated book and reflections on image reading and visual literacy. It addresses the paths of illustrated books, focusing mainly on image books and their origins both abroad and in Brazil. Highlights illustrators contemporaries and their picture books; such as Suzy Lee, Irena Freitas and Renato Moriconi. Establishes a relationship between the work and creation processes for the creation of the image book “Vida Barata” by educator and illustrator Vinicius Davis. The main authors of this research are; Luís Carlos Girão and Elizabeth Cardoso (2019) for discuss the origin of the image book, Fayga Ostrower (2013) to discuss the processes of creation, Sophie Van der Linden (2011) and Graça Ramos (2011) to analyze more deepening what an illustrated book is and its aspects in recent times, Isabel Marques and Fábio Brazil (2014) to reflect educational practices in art.

Aborda percursos dos livros ilustrados pondo em foco principalmente livro imagem e sua origem tanto no exterior quanto no Brasil. Aborda com destaque ilustradores contemporâneos e seus livros-imagem; como Suzy Lee, Irena Freitas e Renato Moriconi. Estabelece relação entre os trabalhos e processos de criação para a elaboração do livro imagem “Vida Barata” do educador e ilustrador Vinicius Davis.
