The requirement of qualifying financial and economic has as main purpose to choose the winning bidder capable of completing the object of the contract without compromising it. In this way, the national law of tenders and contracts, the Law 8.666/1993, demands as a way of enabling financial and economic, that the future contractor demonstrates, through accounting indicators trust, its financial capacity, bringing, as well, the effectiveness desired by the Public Administration. The present study aims to present and interpret the requirements of qualification economic and financial law and if these are being observed in bidding in the municipalities of the region of Great Cuiaba. Preliminarily, will be presented the rules imposed by Law 8.666/1993, present in his article 31, specifically the financial statements and the financial indicators. The sample population for the study were the procurement of works and engineering services, which occurred from January to December of 2015, in the municipalities of Great Cuiabá, namely: Cuiabá and Várzea Grande with values equal to or greater than R$ 80 thousand. The choice of this region was justified by the fact that it is a region characterized by its great disparity between economic this clustering and other urban centers, and also for being the largest industrial center and service of the state of Mato Grosso.
