Accidents in traffic is a public health problem, characterized as the ninth cause of injuries and deaths in the world, are also responsible for a great demand in the emergency and emergency services. Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of the victims under the age of 18 attended in the emergency and emergency departments of Mato Grosso, from September 1 to 30, 2014. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study in services urgency and emergency in selected municipalities of the State. Results: Some 2,648 cases were reported, victims of traffic accidents. About half were young and most were male. Of these victims, 412 attendances were of minors of 18 years. Being male (64.6%), and female (35.4%), approximately 80.0% lived in the urban area. Half the victims were passengers and the vehicle was the motorcycle. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop methods to streamline the prevention process and create policies to avoid traffic violence such as slowing down in urban areas where the highest prevalence of traffic accidents is concentrated as the number of accidents caused, regardless of the distinction, have implications for high direct costs and indirect economic and social, both for the victim and for society, and that may be thought of public policies of Traffic Education in search of awareness of the population.
