Resumo: | The knowledge and use of medicinal plants often represents the only therapeutic resource for many communities and ethnic groups. Plants that can stimulate the immune system are seen by scientific society as alternatives to the treatment of different pathologies. There are reports in the scientific literature that the bark, roots and leaves of Annona muricata are used as antidiabetes in the Peruvian Amazon. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the immunomodulatory effect of soursop leaf (Annona muricata) in an In Vitro model of interaction between human blood mononuclear phagocytes and enteropathogenic Escherichia coli bacteria. It was observed that the cell viability of MN phagocytes in the presence of Annona muricata extract showed rates above 90%, ruling out toxicity on blood cells. All study groups, regardless of concentration, showed microbicidal capacity for EPEC. The micrometric concentration demonstrated to potentiate the phagocytosis of the MN cells of the human peripheral blood in relation to the nano and picometric concentrations, but not causing changes in the microbicidal index in relation to the control group. The micrometric concentration did not interfere in the microbicide indexes evaluated, however it showed a response in the circulatory system showing an increase in viscosity. Taking into account the results presented, it is concluded that the Annona muricata extract is the best candidate for future studies aimed at optimizing its potential to increase viscosity at micrometric concentrations, since it revealed better immunomodulatory characteristics in functional activity. of mononuclear phagocytes for EPEC. |
