Princípios de design para contextualização da ética animal no ensino de biologia

Assuming that ethics focused on the treatment of animals, especially speciesism, despite being issues of cultural and social relevance, are not introduced in biology content and are not usually discussed in classrooms, this work aimed to from a qualitative approach based on Educational Design Research to develop design principles to guide didactic interventions on this theme, aiming to awaken virtuous moral values and promote critical thinking capacity. More specifically, we aim to: a) analyze approaches to teaching animal ethics in Biology Teaching, through a narrative review of didactic experiences reported in the specialized literature; and b) propose design principles on animal ethics and speciesism, to mobilize virtues and promote critical thinking skills, for the high school context. In total, eight articles were analyzed that contained the research topic in their title, abstract and/or keywords, the results of the analysis showed that students and teachers have little knowledge on the subject, indicating that this problem is not the target of discussion in schools. Then we elaborated two design principles that aim to insert ethical discussions with non-human animals in a didactic and participatory way, in order to instigate the development of students' critical thinking, in addition to generating the mobilization of virtuous values, and in future works we intend to submit these principles to the validation phase, presenting their respective results.
