Resumo: The BRS Capiaçu cultivar derived from elephant grass, through genetic studies, has been shown to be an excellent forage option. The objective of this work was to describe in detail the structural, nutritional and chemical characteristics of this grass and how it behaves in the dry period. Showing its benefits when used in three different ways, in the form of silage, supplied green directly in the trough, and as a source of energy biomass. In view of its greater nutritional contribution depending on the age of the cuts and the incorporation of additives for a higher energy content. Introducing itself as an excellent option for roughage, both for dairy animals and for meat animals.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi descrever de forma detalhada as características estruturais, nutricionais, bromatológicas dessa capineira e como ela se comporta no período seco. Mostrando seus benefícios quando utilizada de três formas diferentes, em forma de silagem, fornecida verde diretamente no cocho, e como fonte de biomassa energética. Tendo em vista o seu maior aporte nutricional dependendo da idade dos cortes e incorporação de aditivos para um maior teor energético.
