It is known that because of culture, bureaucracy, lack of strategic planning, turnover of power, among other factors, it is more difficult to promote change within the public sector, and it is a job that takes time and persistence to get the expected results. In this context, the guiding point of this research was to analyze the perspectives and challenges of administrative innovation in the City Hall of Rondonópolis-MT, seen by managers and municipal employee involved in strategic projects focused on innovation. Thus assessing the Management process in the years 2014-2016 making a comparison with the innovative management. The research followed a qualitative orientation. The primary data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Six city employees of strategic positions of the Rondonópolis city hall were interviewed. With their acquiescence, the recordings were used during the interviews, allowing a faithful portrait of their speeches to be extracted. After obtaining the information, a comparison was made with the bibliographic references, seeking theoretical bases that foment the collected data. The results show the managers' adherence in the strategic planning and, even with some resistance there was the support of the technical team in the projects and goals set to achieve an innovative management.
