THE CHOICE OF OPERATION IN ARITHMETIC MULTIPLICATIVE QUESTIONS AND IN ALGEBRAIC MULTIPLICATIVE QUESTIONS INVOLVING NATURAL NUMBERS AND DECIMAL NUMBERS

Resumo: | This article presents the results of an investigation whose research question was: Can students who correctly choose operations in questions involving natural numbers have the same ability in questions involving decimal numbers in questions of the multiplicative field? Faced with this question, the objective of the study was to investigate how the percentage of correct choice of the operation behaves in multiplicative questions with decimal numbers when there is the correct choice of the operation in multiplicative questions with natural numbers. The production of information took place through a test applied to 109 students from five classes of three public schools located in the city of Confresa, in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The test contained multiplicative questions involving natural numbers and decimal numbers with similar structures, divided into arithmetic and algebraic questions. The data obtained by the tests composed of arithmetic multiplicative questions and algebraic multiplicative questions with natural numbers and decimal numbers indicated high percentages of correctness in the choice of operation in multiplicative questions involving decimal numbers when the choice of the operation in multiplicative questions involving natural numbers occurred. In addition, it was possible to notice that the students' performance in multiplicative arithmetic questions was better in relation to solving algebraic questions. |

Ante esta interrogante, el objetivo del estudio fue investigar cómo se comporta el porcentaje de elección correcta de la operación en preguntas multiplicativas con números decimales cuando existe la elección correcta de la operación en preguntas multiplicativas con números naturales. La producción de información se realizó a través de una prueba aplicada a 109 alumnos de cinco clases de tres escuelas públicas ubicadas en la ciudad de Confresa, en el estado de Mato Grosso, Brasil. La prueba contenía preguntas multiplicativas que involucraban números naturales y números decimales con estructuras similares, divididas en preguntas aritméticas y algebraicas. Los datos obtenidos por las pruebas compuestas de preguntas multiplicativas aritméticas y preguntas multiplicativas algebraicas con números naturales y números decimales indicaron altos porcentajes de acierto en la elección de la operación en preguntas multiplicativas que involucran números decimales cuando ocurrió la elección de la operación en preguntas multiplicativas que involucran números naturales. Además, fue posible notar que el desempeño de los estudiantes en las preguntas aritméticas multiplicativas fue mejor en relación a la resolución de las preguntas algebraicas.Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma investigação que teve como questão de pesquisa: Os estudantes que escolhem corretamente as operações em questões que envolvem números naturais conseguem ter a mesma capacidade em questões que envolvem números decimais em questões do campo multiplicativo? Diante dessa questão, o objetivo do estudo foi investigar como se comporta o percentual de acerto da escolha da operação em questões multiplicativas com números decimais quando há a escolha correta da operação em questões multiplicativas com números naturais. A produção das informações ocorreu por meio de um teste aplicado à 109 estudantes de cinco turmas de três escolas públicas situadas na cidade de Confresa, no estado de Mato Grosso, Brasil. O teste continha questões multiplicativas que envolviam números naturais e números decimais com estruturas similares, divididas em questões do tipo aritmético e do tipo algébrico. Os dados obtidos pelos testes compostos por questões multiplicativas aritméticas e questões multiplicativas algébricas com números naturais e números decimais indicaram altos percentuais de acerto da escolha da operação em questões multiplicativas envolvendo números decimais quando ocorreu o acerto da escolha da operação em questões multiplicativas envolvendo números naturais.
