WHAT ARITHMETIC TEACHING IN PRIMARY SCHOOL BRAZILIAN? MODERN PEDAGOGY BY LEONCIO DE CARVALHO AND RUI BARBOSA (1879-1883)

Resumo: Objective, in this article, to identify, if there was, what were the methodological guidelines for the teaching of Arithmetic in the Brazilian primary school in times of attempts at educational modernization. Two reform proposals took upon themselves the task of bringing the ideas of modernization within the school walls Brazil: Reform of 1879 and the Opinion/Project 1883. Takes this, interested to know what they say the Decree of Leoncio de Carvalho (1879) and the Opinion/Project Rui Barbosa (1883) on the teaching of elementary Arithmetic. For this, the analysis took into account the leading brands producing these documents which are listed as standardization devices and as a producer of fashion sense. The representation deals with the analysis and views was a Arithmetic set by concrete reality and the practice of mental calculation.

The representation deals with the analysis and views was a Arithmetic set by concrete reality and the practice of mental calculation.Objetiva-se, neste artigo, identificar, caso tenha havido, quais foram as indicações metodológicas para o ensino da Aritmética no curso primário brasileiro, em tempos das tentativas de modernização pedagógica. Duas propostas reformistas assumiram para si a incumbência de levar o ideário da modernização para dentro dos muros escolares do Brasil: a Reforma de 1879 e o Parecer/Projeto de 1883. Nessa leva, interessa saber o que dizem o Decreto de Leôncio de Carvalho (1879) e o Parecer/Projeto de Rui Barbosa (1883) sobre o ensino da Aritmética primária. Para isso, a análise se deu levando em conta as marcas de produção desses documentos as quais estão inscritas como dispositivos de normalização e como forma produtora de sentido.
