Resumo: Chemistry teaching is almost always disconnected from reality, limiting itself to memorizing formulas and concepts, making the teaching-learning process difficult. This research has a qualitative methodological approach (Lüdcke & Andre, 1986), supported by Giordan's (1999) proposal for experimentation, which highlights experimentation as an alternative methodology in the search for the contextualization of content. An adapted didactic sequence proposed by Ciscato et. al. (2016) on corrosion of metallic objects. Experimental activity carried out with 2nd year high school students at a public school in the State of São Paulo. The results showed that the experiment helped in teaching and learning the concepts about oxidation-reduction, the activity also allowed for greater interaction between students and a better understanding of the concepts related to the topic. During the steps of the experiments, the students attenuated motivated, stimulating the investigative character, decision making and collaborative learning.
