INITIAL TRAJECTORY OF NATURAL HISTORY IN TEACHER TRAINING INSTITUTIONS IN PARÁ (1870-1890)

Resumo: | The discipline called Natural History was adopted, for the first time, in a school for the formation of teachers in Pará, in 1873, by the Normal Course. This event is significant for our objective, which is to contribute to understanding the conditions that made possible the initial inclusion of Natural History in schools for the training of teachers in Pará. The present research begins in 1870, by analyzing the laws and regulations proposing the creation of that school and ends in 1890, when Natural History, after being removed from the teaching plan, remains absent. In addition to government laws and regulations, we analyzed newspaper reports. In this newspaper, opinions favorable to the adoption of this discipline and the creation of the Normal Course predominate, although there was also resistance. It should also be noted that the presence of Natural History was not limited to the school context. At that moment, it was accentuated in the local cultural context, highlighting the presence of the institution destined, above all, to activities in this field of knowledge: the Museu Paraense (today Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi). |

Este evento es significativo para nuestro objetivo, que es contribuir a la comprensión de las condiciones que hicieron posible la inclusión inicial de la Historia Natural en las escuelas para la formación de profesores en Pará. La presente investigación se inicia en 1870, analizando las leyes y reglamentos que propusieron la creación de esa escuela y finaliza en 1890, cuando la Historia Natural, luego de ser sustraída del plan de enseñanza, queda ausente. Además de las leyes y reglamentos gubernamentales, analizamos los informes periodísticos. En esta noticia predominan las opiniones favorables a la adopción de esta disciplina y la creación del Curso Normal, aunque también hubo resistencia. También cabe señalar que la presencia de la Historia Natural no se limitó al contexto escolar. En ese momento, se acentuó en el contexto cultural local, destacándose la presencia de la institución destinada, sobre todo, a actividades en este campo del saber: el Museu Paraense (hoy Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi).A disciplina denominada História Natural foi adotada, pela primeira vez, em uma escola para formação de professores do Pará, em 1873, pelo Curso Normal. Esse acontecimento é significativo para o nosso objetivo que é contribuir para compreender as condições que possibilitaram a inserção inicial da História Natural nas escolas para a formação de professores do Pará. A presente pesquisa inicia em 1870, pela análise das leis e regulamentos propondo a criação da referida escola e finaliza em 1890, quando a História Natural, após ser retirada do plano de ensino, continua ausente. Além das leis e regulamentos governamentais, analisamos os noticiários dos jornais. Neste noticiário, predominam opiniões favoráveis à adoção desta disciplina e à criação do Curso Normal, embora tenha havido, também, resistências. Convém assinalar, ainda, que a presença da História Natural não se reduziu ao contexto escolar.
