Resumo: | This study refers to a qualitative research in the field of reading and writing in mathematics classes that aims to analyze the introduction of mathematical concepts through the comics. contributions have investigated this methodological approach to the process of teaching and learning of mathematics. The theoretical framework used focuses on the historical-cultural approach of Vygotsky's theory, as well as recent studies on the mathematical language and the use of reading and writing in mathematics classes, by several researchers. The research developed with students of the 6th year of elementary school in a public school in the municipality of São Luís (MA). Therefore, we developed activities with comics, who sought the development of reading and writing students, which were observed by the researcher and also the teacher-employee. The results show that the HQs contribute to learning mathematics in that arouse the attention of students to mathematical knowledge and allow them to assigning meaning to the concepts studied. |

The results show that the HQs contribute to learning mathematics in that arouse the attention of students to mathematical knowledge and allow them to assigning meaning to the concepts studied.Este estudo refere-se a uma pesquisa qualitativa no campo da Leitura e Escrita nas aulas de Matemática que visa analisar a introdução de conceitos matemáticos através das histórias em quadrinhos. Investigaram-se as contribuições dessa perspectiva metodológica para o processo de ensino e aprendizagem da Matemática. O embasamento teórico utilizado centra-se no enfoque histórico-cultural da teoria vygotskiana, bem como em estudos realizados recentemente sobre a linguagem matemática e a utilização da Leitura e Escrita nas aulas de Matemática, por diversos pesquisadores. A pesquisa desenvolveu-se com alunos do 6º ano do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola da rede pública do município de São Luís (MA). Para tanto foram elaboradas atividades com histórias em quadrinhos, que buscaram o desenvolvimento da leitura e escrita dos alunos, que foram observados pelo pesquisador e também pelo professor-colaborador.
