This article presents a dissertation entitled "environmental perception of elementary school students about the mangrove ecosystem", whose main objective was to contribute to the environmental preservation of mangroves through the environmental perception of 6th grade students of a public school in the municipality of Coconut bar / SE. In this section, a diagnosis on environmental perception was presented, in which questionnaires were applied to 30 students of the 6th grade B of the Carlos Firpo State College, referring to the mangrove. The use of the questionnaire presented important contributions, in order to evaluate the students' previous perceptions, where it was found that the students already presented a prior knowledge and environmental concern about the ecosystem, however, it is necessary to carry out sensitization processes regarding the attitudinal aspects, always considering the student context.
