SCIENTIFIC LITERACY: AN ANALYSIS OF ACTIVITIES DEVELOPED IN THE FINAL YEARS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

A study was made based on the development of remote classes considering the context of the covid-19 pandemic in 2020, which greatly limited the actions of basic education teachers. The focus of the study was the possibility of promoting Scientific Literacy (AC) during classes, with the use of pesticides as the main theme. More specifically, the study evaluated the contributions of the didactic actions developed to contemplate the scientific literacy indicators proposed by Sasseron (2008) and which are the most favored in the activities carried out. The text describes the seven activities developed during the meetings and which were sent via WhatsApp. The research was developed with students of the seventh year of Elementary School from two public schools in Rio Grande do Sul. This qualitative participant research aimed to identify the presence of AC Indicators in the perspective of Sasseron (2008) in the activities developed. Since the analysis of the activities indicated the presence of CA indicators, pointing out that promoting learning situations focused on reflection, critical thinking, reading and research can contribute to the formation of citizenship even in a remote teaching context.
