Language is part of the human species and it is important for the communication of the subject, with the other and with the world. Therefore, this is the construction of its autonomous, active and receptive identity in accordance with the assumptions of the Bakhtinian studies. Likewise, the writing that is a facet of language is indisputable in the advancement of humanity. This research presents the importance and feasibility of Sign Writing (SW) for the linguistic and cognitive development of students/users of Sign Language (SL) - auditory and visual (deaf), according to the Vigotskian assumption, since the learning of WRITING contributes to the formation of the higher structures of the mind, that is, to the constitution of the visual subject. This qualitative bibliographic exploratory research is based on Vygotskian thoughts, specifically, on learning and development in the historical-cultural perspective and Bakhtinian theories, especially on the principle of verbal interaction as a key to the constitution of the subject, language mediated. This is supported by authors of SW like Benassi (2017; 2019). In this way, research study the history of writing, its importance, contributions and transformations over time. Also, it emphasizes about Sign Language Writing (SLW), and the existing systems in the world, especially in Brazil and the new Brazilian SW system - VisoGrafia - as an analysis tool for this research: learning of SW. Consequently, VisoGraphy is the writing that best represents the image of SL, which is an image language and the system that presents the smallest visogram, that is, the smallest number of visograms, only 37. Therefore, this is part of the analysis as well as was selected from the database of the doctoral thesis of Benassi (2019) and his inquiry collection. This investigation hopes to encourage new studies in the area to disseminate knowledge about the acquisition of higher education in visual education. In addition, it raising reflections about the importance of learning in higher education and it try to eliminate language barriers imposed on visual subjects, who are relegated of that knowledge because they are in a society that is historically governed by the culture of writing.
