Docência no ensino superior e síndrome de burnout : um estudo sobre o desempenho na sociedade contemporânea

Resumo: The present research aimed to verify the occurrence of Burnout Syndrome in a sample of postgraduate teaching professors at the Federal University of Mato Grosso – UFMT. At first, the project was designed to collect data in person, but with the changes arising from the Pandemic that devastated the world, the research was structured electronically. However, the data collection phases already provided for in the schedule approved by the Ethics and Research Committee had to undergo another analysis by the ethics committee to be approved, and in the first phase, a Semi-structured interview by Google Meet, 6 were the teachers who made it available to answer the 20 questions proposed, 3 male teachers and 3 female teachers; in the second phase of data collection, there was an expressive participation of 75 professors, answering the form by google forms that are also part of the Graduate Program, with 52% men (equivalent to 39 professors) and 48% female professors (equivalent to 36 teachers). Aged between 31 and 65 years, who responded to the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). The objective of the research is to show relevant data and problems about Burnout Syndrome and/or psychological distress among UFMT professors, as well as to understand the demand for performance in this specific area of expertise. The results showed the occurrence of emotional exhaustion in 34.70% of the participants, that is, a level considered high in the sample. Exhaustion has a high level of 33.30%, that is, teachers who feel excessively exhausted at the end of the workday; in relation to discouragement, 28.40% responded that they feel discouraged. The study showed that, despite having presented statistically significant results, the professors feel love for their work, the survey indicated a level of 37.80% of professors who still feel love for their work and 44% feel fulfilled.

A princípio, seria realizada a coleta de dados em formato presencial, mas, com as transformações advindas da Pandemia de Covid-19, que assolou o mundo, a pesquisa se estruturou de forma virtual. A aplicação de questionários (Inventário Maslach de Burnout, MBI) obteve a participação de 75 docentes, sendo 52% homens (equivalentes a 39 docentes) e 48% mulheres (equivalente a 36 docentes), com idades entre 31 e 65 anos. Quanto às entrevistas semiestruturadas, participaram 6 docentes (3 homens e 3 mulheres). O objetivo da pesquisa foi mostrar dados e problemas relevantes sobre Síndrome de Burnout e/ou sofrimento psíquico entre docentes de pós-graduação da UFMT, bem como compreender a exigência por desempenho nesta área específica de atuação. Os resultados mostraram ocorrência de esgotamento emocional em 34,70% dos participantes, ou seja, um nível considerado alto da amostra. A exaustão apresentou nível alto de 33,30%, ou seja, docentes que se sentem excessivamente exaustos ao final da jornada de trabalho; em relação à desânimo, 28,40% responderam que o sentem. O estudo, todavia, mostrou que, apesar de ter apresentado resultados estatisticamente significativos para a temática da pesquisa, 37,80% dos docentes ainda sentem apreço pelo seu trabalho e44% sentem-se realizados.
