This research aimed to analyze the work Two Brothers (2010) from the writer Milton Hatoum. Menory configuration and the construction of the characters identity from the house of Lebanese immigrants in the space of the city of Manaus contributed to the understanding of the identity of the characters that appear in the narrative in a multicultural space. The identity plurality of the characters and the way it is constituted in the relationship between the self and the Other were examined from the perspective of cultural difference and symbolic borders, memory and space, reflecting on different indentities in the same family space. Bibliographic research was chosen based on Maurice Halbwuachs (2006), Beatriz Sarlo (2007), Bosi, Bergson and Eduard Said (1993), among others that address issues related to space, memory and exile. The analysis of the work was carried out according to the categories space, memory and characters, seeking to present a theoretical discussion about memory, space and fictional character construction. It was concluded that there was a process of decay both of the family and of the house, pointing to a city that is confused with the author's own writing and with the decadence of the immigrant family. It was evidenced that the ruins of the city of Manaus, in the course of the narrative, became the mirror of the family and the riverside residents. The city suffered the erasure of collective and cultural memories, interspersed with the ruin of the house of Zana and Halim and with the demolition of the floating neighborhoods.
