Resumo: The stimulation and monitoring of child development in the first years of life are considered relevant practices in healthcare, that may impact the child’s life as well as future generations. Studies indicate that in Brazil, a significative percentile of children present developmental impairment. In recent years, a dedicated space was added to the Child's Handbook for development follow-up and suggestion of measures in cases which some delay is noted. It is known that qualifying professionals increase their confidence and capacity to detect delays and promote interventions to stimulate development, in addition to providing more comprehensive filling of the Child's Handbook. Objectives: Identify what primary care health professionals understand about child development. Qualify primary care health professionals concerning child development. Methodology: This study is part of a project entitled “Qualification of Multiprofessional Health Monitoring in Regard to Child Growth and Development in the Central Region of Rio Grande do Sul", approved in the convocation DECIT/SCTIE/MS-CNPQ-FAPERGS 08/2020 – Research program for the SUS: Shared Health Management – PPSUS, and received funding from the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Rio Grande do Sul (FAPERGS). It consists of qualitative research employing the action-research methodology. Primary healthcare professionals were invited to participate in the research and after that, a questionnaire was sent via Google Meet, with questions about child development. The answers were analyzed through discursive textual analysis and used to ponder capacitation on child growth and development. Subsequently, The qualification was synchronous and subsequently, recorded and made available online, in addition to educational materials that were built as support to the theme. Results: It was evidenced in the analysis of the answers that some professionals in assistive activities, carry out evaluation of development and are aware of its phases and importance. Some reported not performing this assessment, as well as showing gaps in knowledge on the subject and defined it as an increase in functional capacity, the assessment of reflexes and psychomotor development. Few responses emphasized the importance of stimulating development for the child's future. There was active participation of professionals in the qualifications, positive reports in relation to it and demonstration of interest in participating in other activities related to child development and utilization of the Childs Handbook. Technical/technological product: It consists of a professional training course offered in the form of qualification workshops and educational materials, such as an e-book accessible to the team, in addition to a folder and panel which purpose was stimulating the child's development in the first years of life. It has an innovative character, since few registers of qualifications were found, as well as there is no report of educational materials available within the qualifications. This qualification and its materials can serve as a source of information and motivation for monitoring child development. Final Remarks: Participants were interested in more information on the subject and demonstrated concern and willingness to improve monitoring of the development and utilization of the Childs Handbook. A broadening of the focus on growth, nutrition, and diseases in childhood, to an outlook at early childhood development is expected, due to its importance in the present and future of children.

Final Remarks: Participants were interested in more information on the subject and demonstrated concern and willingness to improve monitoring of the development and utilization of the Childs Handbook. A broadening of the focus on growth, nutrition, and diseases in childhood, to an outlook at early childhood development is expected, due to its importance in the present and future of children.O estímulo e o acompanhamento do desenvolvimento infantil, nos primeiros anos de vida, são considerados um importante cuidado de saúde, podendo ter repercussões na vida da criança e reflexos nas futuras gerações. Submitted by Clarice Rosa Machado (clarice.machado@ufn.edu.br) on 2023-02-24T19:37:45Z No. of bitstreams: 3 Dissertacao_PedroJosePra_SemAssinaturas.pdf: 7374173 bytes, checksum: 9e254f989d4d17d02bd3d6b008e5d3ba (MD5) TEMPLATE PRODUTO PPFSMI_Pedro Prá.pdf: 2208921 bytes, checksum: 84329dead1d2ea5cf1a06f5b40b44939 (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2023-02-24T19:37:45Z (GMT).
