Creative Eros: : culture and erotic education in the texts of the "student" Walter Benjamin

Resumo: | Walter Benjamin’s texts written between 1910 and 1914 register his intense militancy in the German Youth Movement, particularly in the faction leaded by educator Gustav Wyneken. That was a movement that intended to restitute to the youth its singularity and importance inside a project of renovation of the idea of culture. In this discussion, the question of sexuality was highlighted. Like his fellows, Benjamin defended a new erotic culture and education. Therefore, the main intention of this article is to draw the general outlines of Benjamin’s participation in this debate, which initiates a couple of themes that will persist along the rest of his lifework. |

Si l’art a quelque rapport avec la vie, le saisir « sur le vif » c’est se rendre sensible à son « allure », sa « forme », son mouvement. Cela conduit à préférer voir l’œuvre d’art comme un commencement et non une fi n, une ouverture sans cesse reprise, et non une totalité close ou un achè- vement. La multiplicité éclatée des œuvres d’art, leur diversité divergente dans le temps et l’espace, récuse tout modèle transcendant de Beau et affi rme tout à la fois l’exemplarité précaire et résistante, mortelle et survivante, de l’art. Du symbole à l’allégorie, c’est ce pas déviant, cet écart décisif qu’une réfl exion sur l’art doit marquer et reprendre en demandant à W.Benjaminl’élan d’une histoire intempestive, le défi d’une foi artiste qui ferait sortir des métaphysiques régnantes du Beau, de Platon à Hegel et retrouver l’énergie d’une vitalité débordante dans laquelle l’art à l’œuvre nous emporte. Ce n’est rien moins que l’étrange fi gure voilée d’Isis, son pas double, mortel et vivant, qui nous guide, d’Apulée à Kant et Baudelaire, sur le chemin d’un sublime, critique mais vital, délivré de la fascination pathétique pour la nostalgie de l’Au-delà. Comment ce sublime révolutionnaire et transgressif n’entraînerait-il pas avec lui la noirceur et la pétrifi cation mélancolique pour réinventer l’arc-en-ciel magique de la vie vive? Réanimer l’exemplaire gravure de Dürer c’est peut-être dé- busquer le secret de la renaissance éternellement déviante, fuyante, mais affi rmative, de l’art: Hugo, comme Sartre, entre autres, ne manquent pas de l’entrevoir. Reprendre l’élan de ce défi qui ouvre le monde moderne, ce serait l’occasion d’un discret hommage au courage sublime des poètes de l’ « inconfi dence ».Quando se trata da arte, não são talvez as questões de essência, de origem ou de conteúdo que convêm. Se a arte tem alguma relação com a vida, apreendê-la “sobre o vivo” é tornar-se sensível a seu “andar”, sua “forma”, seu movimento. Isto induz a ver a obra de arte como um começo e não um fi m, uma abertura retomada sem cessar e não uma totalidade fechada ou um acabamento. A multiplicidade irradiada das obras de arte, sua diversidade divergente no tempo e no espaço, recusa todo modelo transcendente de Belo e afi rma a exemplaridade ao mesmo tempo precária e resistente, mortal e sobrevivente, da arte. Do símbolo à alegoria, é este passo desviante, este intervalo decisivo, que uma re- fl exão sobre a arte deve marcar e retomar, encontrando em W. Benjamin o élan de uma história intempestiva, o desafi o de uma fé artista que faria sair das metafísicas reinantes do Belo, de Platão a Hegel, e reencontrar a energia de uma vitalidade transbordante na qual a arte em obras nos transporta. Não é nada menos que a estranha fi gura velada de Ísis, seu passo duplo, mortal e vivente, que nos guia, de Apuleio a Kant e Baudelaire, no caminho de um sublime crítico mas vital, livre da fascinação patética pela nostalgia do Para além. Como este sublime revolucionário e transgressivo não arrastaria com ele a negrura e a petrifi cação melancólica, para reinventar o arco-íris mágico da vida viva? Reanimar a exemplar gravura de Dürer é talvez desentocar o segredo da renascença eternamente desviante, fugidia mas afi rmativa, da arte: Hugo, como Sartre, entre outros, não deixa de entrevê-lo.
