QUALITATIVE APPROACH IN EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH: patterns in dissertations from a graduate program of excellence

Resumo: This study aims to delve into the intricacies of educational research, to understand the patterns in its methodological assumptions, its most recurrent procedural characteristics, and precisely how the data that supports research in the area is obtained. The focus of the research was on the master's productions from 2013 to 2018 of a postgraduate program in education evaluated by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes/MEC) with concept 7 (seven).  As a research problem, we asked how the master's dissertations, with a qualitative approach, from a graduate program in education concept 7, explain their methodology and techniques for data collection. Based on a documentary search carried out on the Sucupira Platform, with the time frame delimited, we identified 98 dissertations, 96 of which were characterized as qualitative, 01 as quantitative and 01 as mixed. Thus, this article aims to identify the methodological patterns for the field of education in dissertations from 2013 to 2018, from a postgraduate program in education concept 7. A large predominance of the qualitative approach was found in educational research. It was also noted that in relation to the method, the Case Study, Documentary Research and Oral History have a significant frequency over the others and with regard to data collection techniques, the interview stands out. Finally, a significant number of dissertations failed to define the research method.

Finally, a significant number of dissertations failed to define the research method.Este estudio tiene como objetivo profundizar en los entresijos de la investigación educativa, para comprender los patrones de sus supuestos metodológicos, sus características procedimentales más recurrentes y, precisamente, cómo se obtienen los datos que sustentan la investigación en el área. El foco de la investigación fueron las producciones de maestría de 2013 a 2018 de un programa de posgrado en educación evaluado por la Coordinación para el Mejoramiento del Personal de Educación Superior (Capes/MEC) con el concepto 7 (siete).  El problema de investigación se preguntó cómo las disertaciones de maestría con enfoque cualitativo de un programa de posgrado en educación, concepto 7, explican su metodología y técnicas de recolección de datos. A partir de una búsqueda documental realizada en la Plataforma Sucupira, con el marco temporal delimitado, identificamos 98 disertaciones, de las cuales 96 fueron caracterizadas como cualitativas, 01 como cuantitativas y 01 como mixtas. El objetivo de este artículo es identificar los patrones metodológicos para el campo de la educación en disertaciones de 2013 a 2018, de un programa de postgrado en educación con una puntuación de 7. El enfoque cualitativo en la investigación educativa fue ampliamente predominante. También se observó que en relación con el método, el Estudio de Caso, la Investigación Documental y la Historia Oral tienen una frecuencia significativa sobre las demás y en cuanto a las técnicas de recolección de datos, destaca la entrevista. Por último, un número significativo de disertaciones no definió el método de investigación.Adentrar nos meandros da pesquisa educacional, compreender padrões em seus pressupostos metodológicos, suas características procedimentais mais recorrentes, precisamente, como se obtém os dados que sustentam a investigação na área é baliza do presente estudo. O foco da pesquisa centrou-se nas produções de mestrado dos anos de 2013 a 2018 de um programa de pós-graduação em educação avaliado pela Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes/MEC) com conceito 7 (sete).  Como problema da pesquisa questionou-se como as dissertações de mestrado, com abordagem qualitativa, de um programa de pós-graduação em educação conceito 7, explanam sua metodologia e técnicas para coleta de dados. A partir de uma pesquisa documental realizada na Plataforma Sucupira, com o recorte temporal delimitado, identificamos 98 dissertações, sendo 96 caracterizadas como qualitativa, 01 quantitativa e 01 mista. Desse modo, o presente artigo objetiva identificar os padrões metodológicos para área de educação em dissertações no período de 2013 a 2018, de um programa de pós-graduação em educação conceito 7. Constatou-se ampla predominância da abordagem qualitativa nas pesquisas educacionais. Percebeu-se também que em relação ao método, o Estudo de Caso, a Pesquisa Documental e a História Oral têm significativa frequência sobre as demais e no que concerne às técnicas para coleta de dados, a entrevista se sobressai.
